Contract Position under the Canada Summer Jobs Program*

Duties and Responsibilities

The Social Media Community Manager reports to the Supervising Director and assists in managing the organization’s social media presence. This includes planning and scheduling posts, engaging with followers, seeking opportunities to grow the online community, maintaining a positive online reputation, and building relationships with online stakeholders.

  • Assist with managing LPO’s social media accounts and online presence
  • Plan and schedule posts promoting programs, events, and initiatives
  • Engage with followers and respond to comments and messages professionally
  • Identify and implement strategies to grow the online community
  • Monitor analytics and provide regular performance reports
  • Monitor online reviews and comments and respond appropriately
  • Support development of an online reputation strategy
  • Build relationships with followers, partners, and relevant organizations
  • Identify collaboration and partnership opportunities with other organizations
Qualifications
  • Experience managing social media accounts for organizations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with online reputation management
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders online
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools
  • Positive role model able to interact supportively with children, youth, volunteers, and community members
  • Experience with marketing and fundraising is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and develop concepts into effective programs and events
  • Ability to make sound decisions
  • Willingness to learn LPO operations and policies
  • A firm conviction in LPO’s purpose and objectives

Role Overview

This role supports research, creation, and preparation of educational and support materials for new families, employment and tax guidance, presenter resources, and communications planning for LPO awareness and acceptance initiatives.

Projects and Responsibilities
  • Research, create, and prepare a welcome package for new families of a teen with dwarfism in English and French
  • Research and update employment, grant, disability benefit, and CRA/tax guidance materials
  • Update educational anti-bullying / anti-teasing presentation materials for schools in English and French
  • Support development and execution of LPO’s communications plan
  • Help manage communication calendars, eBlasts, newsletters, and regional peer support meeting communications
  • Support dwarfism awareness and acceptance campaign preparation and outreach
  • Develop materials for families, the LP community, medical professionals, and the general public
Qualifications
  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet milestones and deadlines through regular dialogue and progress reporting
  • Special understanding of the Little People community and ability to represent that perspective is preferred
  • Fluency in French is an asset

Role Overview

The Event & Fundraising Coordinator supports the Supervising Director and President with planning events, charitable program activities, volunteer coordination, and fundraising initiatives that help sustain LPO’s work.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with program and event planning to meet LPO goals
  • Support program delivery and activities as required
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for programs and events
  • Assist with volunteer, member, and affiliate application documentation
  • Support volunteer screening processes
  • Prepare newsletters as requested
  • Assist with fundraising planning and execution
  • Support events such as Walk & Roll Bowl, Walk & Roll Golf, raffles, food sales, dinners, and auctions
  • Maintain fundraising history, records, and documentation
  • Help with receipting, thank-you notes, scheduling, reporting, and project evaluation
  • Contact potential funders and help arrange presentations
  • Provide clerical and office support, including filing, photocopying, ordering supplies, preparing board packages, and maintaining contact lists
Qualifications
  • Experience in volunteer management, recruiting, and supervising volunteers is an asset
  • Positive role model able to interact supportively with children, youth, volunteers, and community members
  • Experience with marketing and fundraising is an asset

Job Description

The AbanteCart Web Manager will be responsible for updating and maintaining an AbanteCart website for LPO that is visually appealing, easy to navigate, and user-friendly. The web manager will work closely with the Supervising Director to ensure that the website meets the organization’s needs and objectives. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of AbanteCart web design principles and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Update a visually appealing, user-friendly AbanteCart website for LPO
  • Update and maintain website content including text, images, videos, and other media
  • Ensure the website is responsive and optimized for different devices and screen sizes
  • Conduct regular updates and maintenance to ensure functionality and security
  • Collaborate with the Supervising Director to ensure the website meets organizational goals
  • Stay up to date with web design trends, techniques, and technologies
  • Provide regular progress reports and seek feedback for improvement
Requirements
  • Proven experience in Abante web design and development
  • Proven experience in WordPress with WooCommerce plugin usage and maintenance
  • Proficient in AbanteCart
  • Experience with SQL, databases, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and other web design tools is an asset
  • Familiarity with web design principles, user experience, and accessibility
