LPO provides bursaries to help members attend LPO events and to assist with essential medical & mobility aids. All applications are confidential and reviewed by volunteers.

Getting Started — The Application Process

Download the Pre-Screening Spreadsheet and the Bursary Application, complete both, and email them to bursary@lpo.on.ca.

  • Applicants/recipients must follow the LPO Bursary Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement.
  • We aim to contact you within a week of receiving your application with next steps.
  • Please keep your application private while it’s being reviewed—LPO is operated entirely by volunteers.

LPO Event Bursary Fund

Helps LPs and their families in financial need attend LPO functions (e.g., annual Spring Medical Conference and LPO events). All applications are treated confidentially in accordance with LPO’s privacy policy. To donate to this Bursary Fund, email bursary@lpo.on.ca following the same Bursary steps listed above but specifying the target Bursary is the Event Fund. 

Event Bursary Application

Medical & Mobility Aids Bursary Fund (Pilot)

Open

Assists eligible LPs in Ontario with residual costs of prescribed medical and mobility aids not fully covered by OHIP/private insurance. To donate to this Bursary Fund, email bursary@lpo.on.ca following the same Bursary steps listed above but specifying the target Bursary is the MMABF. 

Objectives

  • Reduce financial burden when purchasing essential medical/mobility aids.
  • Support independence and mobility through access to appropriate equipment.
  • Reimburse eligible expenses through a third-party payment system.

Eligibility (summary)

  • Individual with dwarfism residing in Ontario and an LPO member/affiliate in good standing (≥ 1 year).
  • Medical documentation of dwarfism and prescription/need for the device.
  • Demonstrated financial need.

Typical items (Appendix A)

  • Mobility: custom canes/crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, wheelchair ramps.
  • Medical: breathing apparatus, hearing aids, orthotic/orthopaedic devices, orthopaedic footwear.

Tax Receipts

Donations to LPO are tax-deductible within Canada. Receipts are issued per CRA guidelines.
